Sting Ray is his real name. (Yes, his parents named him after the Corvette.) With a name like that, he is destined to go fast.
He grew up around cars and speed going to drag races, autocross and Corvette clubs. By the time he watched Travis Pastrana jump a go-kart into a foam pit when he was 4, driving is all Sting Ray wanted to do.
But growing up in Idaho meant having to travel to race go-karts, and that’s what his family did for 42 weekends a year as he became of the nation’s best kart racers. That success helped him reach cars where he’s raced in Formula Car Challenge, Cooper Tires USF2000 and Indy Pro 2000, where he won the 2020 championship. In 2021, he graduated to Indy Lights and returns to the series this season with Andretti Autosport.
Faith is also a key part of his life, and he is involved in The Porch (Young Adult Ministry) on Tuesday nights. He also enjoys spending time outdoors in Idaho’s mountains, staying active by snow skiing and hunting in the fall and winter and with water sports and outdoor activities such as rock climbing in the spring and summer.
